What is the Industrial Heat Auction?
The Heat Auction is designed to accelerate the deployment of low-carbon industrial heat solutions by providing operating support linked to verified greenhouse gas emission reductions.
Support will be awarded through a competitive auction process where projects compete based on the cost of CO₂ abatement.
Which projects are eligible?
The auction supports projects involving:
- Industrial heat pumps
- Electric boilers and resistance heating
- Electromagnetic, induction and plasma heating technologies
- Solar thermal heat
- Geothermal heat
- Nuclear heat solutions
- Hybrid solutions combining these technologies
The focus is on industrial process heat applications that reduce emissions and help industry transition away from fossil fuels.
